Project Description

The newly completed upgraded rest and service area are located at KM331.5 (southward) along the North-South Expressway. The existing RSA were without adequate facilities Due to the increase of traffic volume, more proper facilities are required. This includes new restrooms (toilets), surau, frit stalls, and wakafs. A new image with additional requirements such as user friendly facilities is required by the client.

 

Development Concept

Redevelopment of the area is aimed at creating a sense of Regional Locality and Quality by giving an ambience to the place.The design objectives are to create a sense of arrival and place, and a therapeutic environment to the users.

Introduction

The public toilet through a humble instrument is a microcosm of the society at large. It is of great importance to each of us and culture as a whole. Evidently, the neglect in architectural design aspect such as disabled, privacy, ventilation, comfort security and culture has added to the deterioration of its function.

Poor toilet design and management, user manners and etiquettes shows the slice of the peoples morality and the spiritual culture of the country.

Therefore, managing restrooms to keep them pleasant and convenient must be valued highly since it indicates the given nations high level of hygiene administration.


The Need

There is a need to rectify and educate people to healthier forms of social expression.

Social habits must be changed in relation to the economic development of the state. This is to dispel the notion of disparity in cultural and civilizational standard between group of people. A cleaner environment must be provided for better health in relation to disposals.

Provision of good management practices and public education will re-correct the bad impression of our country from visitor experiences.

A new direction and character in public conveniences should be established for the future needs. This typology of restroom will exist with good design approach, public education on usage, good maintenance and health management.
